Hiring a private personal assistant
Working as a Private Executive Assistant for many years in both Corporate life and Yachts and later as a Private PA in Households there was very little I did not cover. There were the Household Finances– both foreign currency with International bank transfers or credit card and banking in the UK and accounting of those from the window cleaner or milkman bill of £20 to several million pounds for yachts and jets.
Experienced Private PA’s have gained a wealth of experience in the running of the Principal’s home and daily life and would be able to bring this experience to the organization and responsibility of a new position.
The job could involve one day flying on a private jet with jewellery for a charity benefit for the lady Principal to walking the dog and taking it to the vet.
No day was the same and the skills were boundless. That is why it can be one of the most rewarding positions in a Private Household.
The ability to provide household support as a Private Pa to a couple, individual or a family in a formal or informal home gives the opportunity to be deeply involved. Some Private PAs may also perform Corporate work or Personal work as well as acting as the household PA.
There are also Household Pa who are also nannies – organising and scheduling the lives of the children in term time for school and sports as well as being a hands-on nanny when the children come back from school or are on holidays.
Organising charity events on a huge scale for foundation fundraisers with celebrity guests and sponsors, to dropping off the homemade jam at the school fete.
The specific responsibilities will vary from one employer to another. Duties could include:
Property Management – projects and quotes as well as scheduling and accounting for Household projects restoration and household maintenance
Running household errands such as the post office for mailing or collecting parcels, shopping wardrobe items for ski holidays, fetching dry cleaning.
Pet care – Walking the dogs, taking the dog to the vet. Arranging for vets visit for Llamas
Shopping – for the household such as groceries- typically now online and specialist items such as cigars, fine wines, bidding on auctions for guns or artwork
Laundry – overseeing the wardrobe as a ladies maid as well as buying personal items such as fine toiletries or fur storage
Secretarial duties – conversant with all social media and computer-literate in all software applications for Microsoft Word and Apple Mac. Knowledge of Creston and other household IT, TV Music and mobile phones, storage of photos as well as twitter Instagram and other social media and keeping abreast of changing technology. Maintaining calendar writing and receiving emails, Filing, all administration, inventories, insurance documents
Staff management – Directly involved with the hiring and training of Domestic staff for the Principal dealing with Private Household recruitment agencies, collection of relevant candidate CVs, arrangements for an interview, training.
Hospitality – meeting and greeting guests acting as a concierge for researching and booking a hotel or restaurant.
Complex travel bookings and International travel arrangements – Liason with private jet companies, passport control, meet and greet visitors from private plane Hotel bookings for principal, family and staff (interconnecting rooms, specific floors and room location, hotels in Florence, Berlin, Paris etc
Salaries are so varied depending on the post
A good Nanny Pa could earn from £25 to £35k Daily mainly but with live in options on occasion.
Private PAs with experience are mainly earning circa £55k but in London this is known to go as high as £75k as the costs of living near the principals at their request and coming in Daily with long hours on occasion mean expensive rentals in prime areas. For International travelling Private Personal Assistants on rare occasions multi lingual with very free time can be earning £100k and higher.

Terms of Business
Since I started my company, I have always worked hard to make sure clients receive value for money and because of the 100% success rate, unlike other agencies there is no upfront fee charged.
Full terms of Business will be sent to explain in detail that on successful placement a deposit is paid once the staff start their new jobs to give the freedom of 12 weeks probation. Only when a placement is confirmed after the 12 week probation is the invoice sent for a fee – there is no charge of VAT.
The fee is 13% of the annual gross salary for permanent placements.
In the unlikely event the placement does not result in an offer that is accepted there is no further fee charged.
